Councillors & Mayor — activity counts (this term)
Counts are descriptive only and do not measure councillor effectiveness, workload, policy impact, attendance, or community service.
From the indexed council minutes (coverage is partial — see Coverage). They count meeting activity — who moved and voted on what — not who came up with the ideas.
What each column means (plain language)
- Motions moved — how many times this member was the one who formally moved an item to a vote. Often that's just procedure: when an item is pulled for discussion someone has to move it forward, and routine staff reports get moved too. A higher number means more active participation in meetings — not that the member personally came up with that many ideas.
- Successful motions — of those moved, how many passed (carried).
- Budget motions — of those moved, how many were about money or the budget.
- Successful budget motions — of the budget ones, how many passed.
- Notices of motion — the closest measure of ideas a member brought forward themselves: formally putting a new item on council's agenda. If you want 'what did this person actually propose,' look here.
- Why there's no 'agenda pulls' column — who pulled a consent item for discussion isn't written in the minutes (it only shows on the in-meeting video), so we can't fairly say who pulled what. 305 items were pulled from consent this term, but they're not attributed to individual members here.
